Titans is about to give these two their best ending, and that’s taking every single other version into account. None of them can compare.
DC nuked every single other version. Like people really gotta explain how them not hurting each other or cheating or having love triangles and distrust is a problem. Just saying any damn thing.Babs coming in was the chance to fuck it up and instead he naturally figured out he didn’t want to be with her. This is simply better.
They nuke them, then constantly bring them back in some capacity just to nuke them again. They shamelessly detest them and their fandom and they get less smoke than a show that is managing to give them a lovely conclusion in spite of a premature cancellation. I’m sorry but I think that’s sad.
It is sad. Like look at what Titans United just pulled. Look at what Tom Taylor is doing with them. That’s the standard for them.
It required so much retconning to reduce their relationship to sex. I don’t hate Barbara, but I hate the way some people can’t seem to love her without trying to make Kory seem like a bimbo or make the connection that Dick and Kory have seem less profound.
Batman editorial did everything to ruin them including completely altering dicks personality. But I really don’t think a lot of people are aware of how dirty they did them and keep doing them.
And we can’t even say that the og New Teen Titans book did right by them because it did not. I don’t know how much of it was editorial meddling or not, but that book hardly left them unscathed. It’s why the account that was whining about Titans taking over the DK tag felt so unserious to me. That account should have been thanking the show for keeping their ship alive but racism is a helluva drug.
I mean the mirage plot and the proposal coming from that is nothing to brag about. It was a huge problem that people just pretend never happened. IDK if Batman editorial had a hand in that or not.
I think the editorial wanted Nightwing back and they didn’t allow him to take Kory with him, but I don’t think they made Wolfman and co. go forward with the Mirage arc. As much as I love that man for what he created and for supporting Anna, he was definitely responsible for some weird writing choices here and there. It was also a consequence of the time period though.
